Christian Kreuder-Sonnen is assistant professor (Jun.-Prof. with tenure-track) in political science and international organizations and co-director of the MA “International Organizations and Crisis Management (IOCM)”. He received his PhD from Free University Berlin (summa cum laude) in 2016 and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center from 2017 to 2019. During this period, he also served as the scientific coordinator of the DFG Research Group “Overlapping Spheres of Authority and Interface Conflicts in the Global Order (OSAIC)”. He has held visiting positions at Oxford University (Nuffield College) and Harvard University (CES). Prof. Kreuder-Sonnen’s research interests encompass themes related to the political authority of international organizations in global governance and the empirical and normative consequences it entails. One specific focus is the behavior and institutional change of multilateral institutions in times of crises. His book Emergency Powers of International Organizations was published by Oxford University Press in 2019 and won the Chadwick Alger Prize awarded by the International Studies Association. Prof. Kreuder-Sonnen teaches widely in the field of international organization studies and global governance. He is happy to supervise undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral theses related to these areas.
